RescueMe 5k Race Day

  • All hands on deck - it's RescueMe 5K time! We will need volunteers to help with registration, the APBF booth, packet pick up, the community adoption area, costume judges, and more! Sign up for a shift below that works best for you. Have friends that might be interested in volunteering? Now is a great time to get them on board and team up together for a shift at our largest annual fundraising community event.
  • Sport your "Pit Crew" shirts the day of the race!
  • Friday is at Omega Sports to facilitate packet pick-up. You may sign up for more than one shift. (Runners/Walkers - if you want to stay all day select both the 6:30 running and the 9:45am running slots). Saturday, there are shifts available for volunteers that are registered to run, and volunteers that do not wish to run. Some duties will overlap day of. Positions‚Äč will be assigned the week of the race. If you are running/walking with your dog and also volunteering - please have a friend or family member available that can take your dog for you while you are volunteering, before and/or after the race.
  • This year, we will email you ahead of time to let you know where to check in and who to check in with at the Volunteer Table located just behind the Registration/Packet Pickup table at the park. You will receive instructions day-of for your shift. You will pickup your volunteer shirt when you check in the morning of the race *We will not be having a pre-race volunteer meeting this year*

Outreach - Fence Builds through August 2018

  • Over the next several months we are continuing to team up with the HSC Pets for Life team to build fences for chained dogs. This is a great opportunity to get involved with Outreach! If you have not participated in a fence build prior, meeting time is 30 minutes prior to the listed time at the Humane Society of Charlotte on Toomey Avenue. If you have participated in fence builds prior, please arrive at the time listed on the signup. Please wear weather-appropriate and durable clothing and close-toed shoes. Kids 15 and up may participate. Please be punctual! You must watch the Outreach Orientation Video prior to participating and have read and agreed to the waiver.   • We are conducting a brief social volunteer experiment and we need your help with - or - your "word" rather. Tell us what one word comes to mind most when you think of your volunteer service for others.
