Volunteer Orientation

  • Location - Hygge 809 W Hill St, Charlotte, NC 28208 Our volunteer orientation is to welcome you as new vollies and help get you familiarized with APBF and the opportunities within the organization. This session will focus on our current programs: Humane Education, Operation Sidekick, Outreach, Helping Hands, and our upcoming events: the RescueMe 5k and the Fit to Fight 22 Hour Fitness Challenge. Bring friends, bring questions, and be ready to have some fun!

RescueMe 5k Signup

  • All hands on deck - it's RescueMe 5K time! We will need volunteers to help with registration, the APBF booth, packet pick up, the community adoption area, costume judges, and more! Sign up for a shift below that works best for you. Have friends that might be interested in volunteering? Now is a great time to get them on board and team up together for a shift at our largest annual fundraising community event.
  • Sport your "Pit Crew" shirts the day of the race!
  • Friday is at Omega Sports to facilitate packet pick-up. Friday 3:45pm to 6pm is course/event setup at McAlpine Creek Park. You may sign up for more than one shift. Saturday, there are shifts available for volunteers that are registered to run, and volunteers that do not wish to run. Some duties will overlap day of. Positions​ will be assigned the week of the race.
  • If you are volunteering for the day of the race, we are hosting two meeting times to give you a run down of how the flow of the day will look, what positions and duties you are assigned to, and to go over team leads so that you know who to go to with questions and/or direction the day of the race. Please pick whichever day/time you are available​. The meeting should last about 30 minutes.

One Word Project

  • We are conducting a brief social volunteer experiment and we need your help with - or - your "word" rather. Tell us what one word comes to mind most when you think of your volunteer service for others.
